Holidays in Egypt can be a huge amount of fun, full of adventure and excitement, and there are so many great things to do while you are in this country. However, before you go off on your trip, there are many things you're going to have to keep in mind. If you're planning to go on holidays in Egypt, you'll need to be prepared with important travel facts. So, here are the most important travel facts that you'll need to remember before you travel to this beautiful country.

Fact #1 - You Need a Visa - First of all, one of the main facts to remember when planning holidays in Egypt is that you are going to need a Visa. In order to get a visa, you can contact a good visa service or the Egyptian Consulate for the visa that you need. Make sure to do this well in advance of your travel times so you'll be ready to go.

Fact #2 - Climate Consideration - Another important travel fact to keep in mind when planning your holidays in Egypt is the climate consideration. During the spring you'll find the temperatures in the mid 70s to mid 80s in the Cairo area; however, in the Aswan and Luxor area, it usually is between 86-97 degrees during the day. It is best to visit during the spring hours since the summer months can be so hot.

Fact #3 - Best Clothing to Take on Holidays in Egypt - Taking the right clothing when you go to the country of Egypt is extremely important. Make sure that you take colors that are light, so they can reflect away the sun, keeping you a bit cooler. Usually it's best to avoid shorts, since Arabs are not a big fan of them. Also, in the desert, sandals are usually not a great choice. A nice hat, some sunglasses, and sunscreen are going to be very important to you. Fact #4 - Foods You'll Encounter - There are many interesting foods that you will encounter while you are in this Country as well and it is definitely a great idea to be prepared before you go so you'll know about the foods that you may experience while on holidays in Egypt. Fool is one of the main dishes that include Fava beans that is eaten in the country. Mashi is another popular dish of vegetables, and Shakshouka is another great dish that includes chopped lamb that is mixed together with tasty tomato sauce.

Fact #5 - Important Water Information - When you go on holidays in Egypt, it is important that you never drink water anywhere in the country, unless you are in Cairo and the water is chlorinated. You can drink Coke, beer, and even wine while you are in the country. Stomach problems can occur, especially if you drink the water, so consider taking some Imodium with you on this trip.

Fact #6 - Tipping is Expected - It's important that you know that tipping is expected when you are on holidays in Egypt. Everyone expects to be tipped, but the amount will depend on the service that you are offered. If you are in a restaurant, 10% tip is fine, porters usually expect to get about 25PT or more per bag. Planning on using a taxi? Before you get in, agree on the price with the driver. This will include tip, but you can tip more if you want to.
